Birders will visit areas not accessible to the general public and experience the unique bird habitats of Punda Maria and the Pafuri area. However, regular favourite birding opportunity spots like Klopperfontein Dam, Luvuvhu River, Crooks Corner, Baobab Hill and the ever popular Pafuri Picnic site will also be visited.

Bird drives will be in SANParks vehicles and will include early morning to noon drives, sundowners and nocturnal bird drives. This will be conducted over two full days. Birding expert Joe Grosel will direct the event and share his vast knowledge with participants. Participants will be taken to spots where Pennant-winged nightjars are often found.

There is a lot of fun to be had such as treasure hunts, lucky draws, birding challenges, bird quizzes and an atlassing event. In addition there will be presentations and discussions about the birding within the area.

Accommodation is available in bungalows in Punda Maria Rest Camp. The price of R4500 includes three nights” accommodation, two full days birding on a SANParks 10 seater open truck and two dinners, one of which is the gala dinner. All the funds raised will go towards supporting SANParks conservation projects.
