Arrest Of Former Corporal For Suspected Poaching

Kruger National Park (KNP) Rangers on a routine afternoon patrol on Sunday, 11 May 2025 encountered four suspects, upon which two were arrested and two managed to flee, but there is a strong follow-up from the Environmental Crime Investigative Unit and South African Police Services on the two who managed to evade the arrest.

The captured suspects are a former SANParks Corporal who was based at Skukuza Ranger Section in the Kruger National Park (KNP) and a well-known serial environmental crime offender.

The suspects were found in possession of a warthog, an impala ram, a rucksack, and other foodstuffs. They cannot be named at this stage until their appearance in court.

The week has been a success as these arrests follow another one wherein two suspected poachers in the Joint Protected Zone were arrested on Wednesday, 07 May 2025. The arrests will go a long way in boosting the morale of the Rangers Corps in their anti-poaching campaign.
