Alert: No unleaded fuel at Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park Twee Rivieren entrance

South African National Parks are urging travelers heading to the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park, on the border of South Africa and Botswana, to make provision for unleaded fuel.

The fuel pumps at Twee Rivieren Rest Camp have been problematic since their upgrade last year. At first, the unleaded petrol pumps would seize when the temperature rose, but now they have stopped working completely, regardless of temperature. The pumps will be out of order indefinitely, ahead of the upcoming Easter holidays.

The diesel pump at Twee Rivieren is still in working condition. Fuel pumps at the Nossob and Mata Mata rest camps are also still in order. The fuel supplier Total is yet to upgrade these fuel stations.

Various Park visitors have been left disgruntled because they were unable to explore the Park due to the fuel shortage. We urge visitors to fill up at Askham before entering the Park from the South African side, or at Nossob or Mata Mata in the Park.
