Specialist: Human Capital Management Remuneration (Fixed-Term Contract)

The Organisation requires the services of a Specialist: Human Capital Management Remuneration in the Human Capital Management department an Independent Contractor for a period of 12 months. This position will be based at Groenkloof National Park, Pretoria. The above position will report directly to the General Manager: Human Capital Management Administration.

Requirements

  • Be in possession of a Diploma (NQF 6) in Human Resources, Organisational Psychology/ Accounting/ Finance/ Commerce.
  • Degree (NQF 7) in Human Resources, Organisational Psychology/ Finance/ Accounting/ Commerce is advantageous.
  • Professional certification is preferred e.g., Certified Compensation Professional (CCP), South African Rewards Association (SARA), Global Remuneration Professional.
  • Proficiency in Excel will be an added advantage.
  • Should have 4 – 5 years in a similar role.
  • Advanced knowledge of South African Tax regulations.
  • Being a registered Tax Practitioner would be an added advantage.

  • Proven working experience as a Compensation and Benefits Specialist.
  • Prior experience in HR practices and compensation cycle management.
  • Working knowledge of job evaluation and job analysis systems.
  • Previous experience with organisational psychology and labour market surveys.
  • Adequate knowledge of current labour rules and regulations.
  • Familiarity with various types of incentives and benefits.
  • Extensive knowledge of HRIS and MS Office.

Responsibilities

  • Define a fair, equitable, and competitive total compensation and benefits package that fits and is aligned with our company’s strategy and business goals.
  • Develop a consistent compensation philosophy in line with work culture and organisational objectives.
  • Use various methods and techniques and make data-based decisions on direct financial, indirect financial, and nonfinancial compensations.
  • Differentiate pay systems to invest in the segments of the workforce that contribute the most value.
  • Deploy effective communication strategies and success metrics.
  • Develop and manage the annual salary review process, including coordinating with managers to ensure accurate and timely completion of salary adjustments.
  • Manage the administration of employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, pension, and group life benefits.
  • Proficiency in using HR information systems and compensation software tools.
  • Ensure that compensation practices are in compliance with current legislation (pay equity, human rights, etc).
  • Stay updated on relevant legislation, regulations, and trends related to compensation and benefits.
  • Conduct periodic audits and prepare reports.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records and documentation related to compensation and benefits policies.
  • Manage tax-related documentation.
  • Coordinate with SARS to submit documents and resolve discrepancies.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to optimize tax functions.
  • Ensure that records are kept in line with legal requirements.
  • On an ad hoc basis, prepare, review, and submit PAYE returns.
  • Provide tax advice on:
    • Internal and SARS queries.
    • Verification tax.
    • Requests for information.
    • Manage audits and disputes.
  • Act as liaison between SARS and the organization to ensure favourable resolutions.
  • Assess employees’ needs by conducting organisational psychology surveys to find out what motivates and engages employees.
  • Participate in salary and labour market surveys to determine prevailing pay rates and benefits.
  • Conduct ongoing research into emerging trends, issues, and best practices.
  • Provide guidance and support to HR team members and managers regarding compensation and benefits-related matters.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including HR, finance, and legal, to ensure effective communication and coordination of compensation and benefits initiatives.
  • Assist with the development and delivery of training programs for managers and employees on compensation and benefits policies and procedures.
