Bushmenskloof is a rock art site in the remote Karoo valley that features rugged sandstone terrain and diverse microhabitats. The isolated, sheltered cliffs in this valley preserve significant San rock art, including unique red and black animal depictions.
Built in 1838, the Victorian-style Doornhoek guesthouse was previously declared as a national monument. Found within a semi-arid landscape, this restored guesthouse was once a farmhouse but is now a tourist accommodation. It represents the region’s traditional dairy farming and architectural history.
Located near a seasonal river, Waterval 1 features rare rock art depicting Nguni cattle alongside wild animals. This unique site illustrates peaceful cultural integration and early exchange between San and agro-pastoralists.
