Suspension Bridge At Storms River Mouth, Tsitsikamma Remains Open During Refurbishment Project

The Suspension Bridge at Storms River Mouth Rest Camp in the Tsitsikamma Section of the Garden Route National Park remains open and accessible while refurbishment work continues.

The refurbishment project, which began earlier this year, includes replacing and strengthening key structural components to enhance the bridge’s safety, durability, and resilience while preserving its unique character and visitor experience.

At the start of the project, construction was scheduled for completion on 23 June 2026. However, successive adverse weather conditions across the region over the past few months have affected construction activities and caused unavoidable delays to the project schedule.

As a result, the anticipated completion date has been revised to the end of August 2026.

Despite the extended construction period, the Suspension Bridge remains open to visitors. SANParks has implemented a phased construction approach that allows public access while refurbishment work is carried out.

Visitors planning to explore the Storms River Mouth area are encouraged to continue including the Suspension Bridge in their itinerary.
