How do I create a SANParks Account?
A SANParks Account is required to purchase tickets online.
If you have an existing Online Bookings account then you can sign in. If you’re a new customer then you can create your free account to get started!

Can I buy Gate Tickets in advance?
Yes, please specify the booking date when viewing one of the destinations.
How far in advance can I buy Gate Tickets?
You can buy tickets for the current rates period. Rates increase annually on 1 November.
For which gates in can I purchase Gate Tickets online?
- Table Mountain National Park: Boulders Beach, Cape Point, Newlands, Oudekraal, Silvermine, and Tokai
- West Coast National Park
What does my Gate Ticket allow me to do?
As with paying conservation entrance fees at the gate, your Gate Ticket will allow you to enter a selected destination on the date for which your ticket/s were purchased.
Please note that your Gate Ticket will facilitate your access to the chosen destination and does not cover/replace any of the permitted activity fees such as fishing, cycling etc. that require other daily permits and/or fees to be paid.
Do online tickets guarantee immediate entry upon arrival?
No, an online ticket means you do not need to pay on arrival.
The queue however works on first come first serve and if the site is at capacity when you arrive you will need to wait in line till there is space on site before you may enter.

How can I pay for Gate Tickets?
We accept Visa, MasterCard, Diners Club and American Express cards that are enrolled with 3D Secure.
Cash is not accepted.
Can I pay for Gate Tickets via EFT?
No, payment is made on the website directly. EFT payments are not accepted.
How do I pay with a credit card?
- Enter your name as it appears on your card.
- Enter your 16 digit card number on the front of the card.
- Enter the expiry date on the front of your card.
- Enter the CVV number (usually 3 or 4 digits) on the back of your card.
- Once completed you may need to enter your mobile number or email address to receive your One-Time Pin (OTP).
- Enter your OTP once received.
- Your bank will direct you back to the SANParks website for an order confirmation.
How do I know all my payment details are safe and secure?
The SANParks website and payment gateway are fully encrypted and PCI compliant.
After entering all my payment details I get a “Something went wrong, contact support” error.
Please make sure that the credit card you are using is registered for 3D Secure payments.
If the money was deducted from your account please contact Customer Care.
I entered all my card details correctly but did not receive a One-Time Pin (OTP)
Please contact your bank for further information on your OTP.
Payment went through but I did not receive my Gate Ticket/s
- Sign in to your SANParks Account.
- Click on the Gate Tickets button from your Account Summary page.
- Then click on the My Tickets button.
- Your tickets will be available for download or printing.
If your tickets or ticket history is empty, please contact Customer Care.
Tickets auto-send off the system. Connectivity and signal to download the ticket/s are your personal dependency and not a responsibility of SANParks.
I need a tax invoice for the Gate Tickets
Tax invoices are available on request. Please contact Customer Care and provide your ticket numbers, and we will send you a tax invoice and receipt.
How will I know that the Gate Tickets have been purchased as requested?
The tickets will be sent to you via email and should arrive within seconds of the transaction being completed.
Do I need to print my Gate Tickets to present at the entrance gate?
You can present the QR Code on your phone for scanning on arrival by gate officials. Alternatively you may print your tickets out prior to arrival.
Must I use the Gate Ticket on the day it is purchased for?
Yes, please use your ticket on the date the ticket is purchased for.
What if I am unable to use the online ticket on the date on the ticket?
The ticket is valid for a further 6 days after the date it was purchased for. Please use the ticket in that period as thereafter the ticket validity lapses and the ticket will not be refunded.
Must South Africans enter a South African Identity Number to quality for the South African rate when buying a Gate Ticket online?
Yes you need to enter a valid SA Identity Number to purchase a ticket online at the South African rate. On arrival at the gate you will be required to provide proof of your Identity Number in the form of a green ID book, card, or SA drivers licence.
The proof can be in original format, certified paper copy, or electronically on your phone or other mobile device.
What happens if I have bought a Gate Ticket for the South African rate online and am not able to produce SA identification on arrival at the gate?
Unfortunately if you cannot produce proof of your valid SA ID at the gate you cannot enter on the ticket. You can alternatively return later in the day with your SA ID or drivers licence or use the ticket in the 6 days it is valid after the date it was bought for. You will still be required to present your SA ID when using this ticket.
Must a South African visitor produce their identification on arrival at the gate?
On arrival at the gate you will be required, if over the age of 18, to provide proof of your SA identification, in the form of a green ID book, card, or SA drivers licence. The proof can be in original format, certified paper copy, or electronically on your phone.
Must an international visitor produce their passport on arrival at the gate?
No, an international visitor does not need to produce their passport on arrival at the gate as standard rates apply.
Must a SADC visitor produce their identification on arrival at the gate?
Yes, to qualify to purchase a ticket at the SADC rate the visitor must produce a valid SADC passport at the gate on arrival. This can be in original format, certified paper copy, or electronic on the visitors phone.
May I buy a ticket at the gate on arrival?
Yes, but you are encouraged to buy online prior to arrival as this reduces the need for cash and cards to be exchanged.
What happens if my phone is stolen and my tickets were on the phone?
- Sign in to your SANParks Account.
- Click on the Gate Tickets button from your Account Summary page.
- Then click on the My Tickets button.
- Your tickets will be available for download or printing.
Tickets are nor replaceable or refundable if they have been redeemed.
If I have valid Wild Card Membership do I still need to purchase a Gate Ticket to enter the park?
Wild Card Membership Holders can arrive at the gate and present their membership letter and proof of identification to enter. No Gate Ticket purchase is required.
What is the cost of entry at Boulders and Cape Point?

Is there a pensioners rate at Boulders and Cape Point?
No, there is only one adult rate.
Do children pay a different rate to adults?
Yes, children between the age of 2 and 11 pay the child rate. Children under the age of 2 are allowed free entry.

Can I buy Gate Tickets on behalf of my friends/family?
Yes, you may buy tickets on behalf of other people.
You will be required to enter the First Name, Last Name, and Identity Number of each South African and First Name, Last Name, Passport Number and Nationality of the person if not South African.
You will be asked to tick a box which indicates that you will undertake to relay to each person you purchase for the Indemnity clause, Park Rules, and Terms & Conditions that apply upon entry to everyone moving through national park gates.
Please ensure that you relay to South African visitors the requirement to individually provide proof of South African identification upon entry.
Is the Gate Ticket valid for the entire day?
The ticket may be redeemed once during gate operating hours.
Can I exit the park and return with the same Gate Ticket later in the day?
Unfortunately not: one entry per Gate Ticket.
If I have an Activity Permit do I need to purchase a Gate Ticket?
With a Mountain Bike or Fishing Level 3 Activity Permit you merely arrive at the Cape Point gate and present your Activity Permit and you will be allowed to undertake your activity provided your Activity Permit is valid. Fishing entries must also show proof of valid DFFE permit.
If I plan to enter with a My Green Card must I purchase a Gate Ticket?
No you can merely arrive and present your My Green Card and ID book to gain entry provided the My Green Card is valid. All those entering with you on the My Green Card also need to present SA Identification on arrival at the gate.
Do I purchase a Gate Ticket to launch my boat?
No, the boat launch fee is settled on arrival at the gate on the day of entry.

Do I purchase a Gate Ticket for cycling?
No, the cycling fee is paid on arrival at the gate on the day of entry.
Alternatively present your Level 3 Activity Permit to enter to cycle.
If I am staying in the accommodation or walking the overnight hiking trail at Cape Point do I need to purchase a Gate Ticket to enter the Park?
You can pay the Gate Ticket/conservation fees as part of your reservation when you make your accommodation booking. Alternatively you may purchase your entry online or present your Wild Card on arrival.
My Green Card and/or an Activity Permit may not be used to pay the conservation fees when overnighting in the park.
Does my Cape Point Gate Ticket include the funicular ride to the lighthouse?
No, the Cape Point Gate Ticket does not include the cost of a funicular ride.
Does my Gate Ticket to Boulders include access to Boulders Beach?
Yes, your entry ticket to Boulders includes access to Boulders Beach.
Does the purchase of a Gate Ticket online guarantee my entry on arrival?
Entry is managed on a first come first serve basis during gate operating hours, and at very busy times entry is subject to visitor capacity. SANParks will however attempt to accommodate as many visitors as are feasible for the site in question.
May I use Gate Tickets in someone else’s name to enter the park?
No, you may not use someone else’s tickets. Tickets need to be in the name of the person entering.
Is the cost of entry linked to my mode of transport?
No, entry fees are not linked to your mode of transport, and hence there is no discount for arriving on a bicycle for example.
Do I quality for a refund if I don’t use my Gate Ticket in the stipulated 7-day time frame?
No refunds are offered for unused Gate Tickets.
A visitor may only apply for a refund in the event of death or illness which will require a death certificate or sick note (from a registered medical practioner) for the date of the ticket.
Can I change the date of my Gate Ticket?
Yes you can change the date of your ticket. Please contact Customer Care and provide your ticket numbers.
Ticket date changes must be requested 48 hours prior to date of arrival.
Only one date change per ticket is allowed.
Can I cancel my Gate Ticket?
The cancellation rules are as follows:
- If you cancel more than 30 days prior to arrival – 100% of the ticket value if refundable;
- Cancel within 30 to 15 days before arrival – 75% of the full ticket value is refundable;
- Cancel within 14 to 7 days before arrival – 50% of the full ticket value is refundable;
- Cancel within 6 days and less and you will be charged a 100% cancellation fee.
