Leokwe Hill, located near Little Muck shelter, is a striking sandstone formation that is notable for its archaeological significance and natural beauty. The site has stone-walled structures and terraces built into the rocky slopes, indicating early settlement activity. Evidence for dwellings in the area is illustrated by grain bins and domestic artefacts such as pottery and tools.

Leokwe Hill is important for several reasons, among which is that it reflects the architectural style and settlement planning of early farming communities in the Limpopo Valley, and it provides evidence of social organisation and land use, including the construction of enclosures and living areas on elevated terrain. It is also believed to have been part of the Mapungubwe polity’s extended settlement system, possibly occupied by members of the elite or high-ranking families. The site contributes to our understanding of the transition from egalitarian farming communities to more stratified Iron Age societies.
