Short Term Closure for Bontebok National Park04 June 2026

Dear Valued Guests

Following servers flooding in May 2026, during which the Breede River burst its banks, Bontebok National Park has sustained significant damage to several trails, tracks, and infrastructure.

All river-boarding trails and viewing decks have washed away, rendering these areas highly unstable and entirely inaccessible.

All affected routes remain strictly closed to visitor access until further notice.

The Lang Elsies Kraal Rest Camp has been temporarily closed, and a phased reopening approach will be communicated shortly.
