About this Cause

In January 2026, severe flooding caused extensive damage across Kruger National Park, one of South Africa’s most important conservation areas and a cornerstone of the country’s tourism economy. The floods destroyed roads and bridges, damaged water and electrical infrastructure, and forced the closure of multiple tourist camps and facilities.

The disaster disrupted park operations and reduced visitor numbers, creating significant financial pressure on conservation efforts and surrounding communities that depend on tourism. Initial estimates suggest that rebuilding and restoring infrastructure could cost hundreds of millions of rand, with full recovery expected to take several years.

The SANParks Kruger Recovery Fund was established to mobilise national and international support to rebuild damaged infrastructure, restore tourism facilities, and strengthen the park against future climate-related disasters. Funds raised will support the repair of roads and bridges, restoration of camps and essential services, and resilience-building projects that protect wildlife habitats and surrounding ecosystems

By contributing to this fund, you are helping to safeguard Kruger National Park’s wildlife, support local communities, and ensure that future generations can continue to experience one of the world’s most iconic conservation landscapes.

Donations to the Kruger Recovery Fund are made through South African National Parks, a registered Public Benefit Organisation (PBO). This means qualifying donations are eligible for Section 18A tax certificates, allowing South African donors to claim tax deductions in line with Section 18A of the Income Tax Act.
