Heaviside Hiking Trail (6km)

This spectacular trail follows the Namaqua coastline for 6km. It starts at the Abjoel viewing deck about 15km north of Groen River Office. After descending a dune, the trail follows a rocky coastal section and then a long white beach, northwards.

The area is well known for its sightings of humpback whales and Heaviside dolphins. You are also likely to see a variety of seabirds, particularly black oyster catchers. At low tide the tidal pools can be explored.

The trail is one-way and hikers can be picked up at the exit point (boardwalk), or hikers can return to the starting point again.
