If you are heading out to a SANParks destination this month, be sure to take advantage of the clean night air and enjoy what the heavens have in store.

Planets you will see

Evening sky: Jupiter sets late evening but by the end of the month sets soon after sunset. Mars is visible from about midnight – look out for the orange object in the sky. Uranus is up all night until shortly after 03:00. Neptune is visible the whole evening.

Morning sky: Mercury is visible in the morning sky and is getting gradually brighter. Venus shines brightly in the morning all month. Saturn can be seen early in the mornings from about 02:00.

SANParks offers an astronomy activity at Olifants Rest Camp in the Kruger National Park. The newly proclaimed Mokala National Park will also offer star gazing activities.
