Fences are coming down across Southern African borders, in an effort to boost and sustain the environment, eco-tourism and economic growth, while involving local communities.
Sweeping across these borders, Transfrontier Conservation Areas (TFCAs) blend South Africa and its neighbours in a cumulative landmass of about 96 000km2, the size of a small country.
On Thursday a memorandum of understanding was signed between South Africa, Botswana and Zimbabwe for the Establishment of the Limpopo/Shashe Trans-frontier Conservation Area to conclude a process that started almost three years ago.
