Table Mountain National Park – Information for the December/January festive season
Cape Point
The Rooikrans satellite parking area will be available as overflow parking for Cape Point between the 15th of December 2014 and the 5th of January 2015. There will be three buses available to transport visitors to and from Rooikrans and they will run free between the dates mentioned.
16 additional staff are in place to assist visitors with parking at Cape Point and Boulders over the festive period. Visitors are encouraged to follow the directional signage that will be in place over this period indicating parking availability and waiting times to access to Boulders and Cape Point.
The maintenance work undertaken on the Dias Beach stairs and boardwalk has been completed. Access to the beach is open once again and we hope that visitors will make use of the new walkway and stairs.
Visitors are encouraged to visit the park early in the day to avoid midday congestion at Cape Point and the picnic sites.
The beaches at Cape Point do not have life guards and you swim in the tidal pool or ocean at your own risk.
Boat owners wishing to make use of the Buffels Bay slipway should check with the gate staff around sea conditions. Please take note that the slipway becomes congested with kelp during and after heavy SE winds.
Please note that baboons are dangerous and attracted by food. Please ensure that you lock all food and bags away in your vehicle should you encounter any baboons during your visit to the park.
Fynbos is a fire prone environment. The only two locations set aside to braai are the picnic sites at Buffels Bay and Bordjiesrif. Please report wildfires fires to 0861106417.
Boulders
Visitors should pay careful attention to tides as this limits the available space on the beach. When the beach has reached capacity the gates are closed The high and low tides are advertised at the entrance points daily although we would encourage visitors to consider this in advance when planning to visit Boulders to avoid disappointment.
Boulders Hours of Operation are: 07h00 – 19h30
No gazebos or tents are allowed on the beach, only standard umbrella”s. No alcohol or smoking is permitted in the park
Silvermine
No braaing allowed in the summer months in Silvermine at the sites around the Silvermine Dam.
We however do allow picnicking all year round. The sites around the dam operate on a first come first serve basis and cannot be reserved.
We do however take bookings for Uthango Group braai site where one can braai year round : Please contact Khumbulani on 021 7120527 for further details. All reservations to be completed and paid for by 21 December 2014 for the season.
Cycling is only allowed during gate operating hours, and not at night.
Day permits for cycling are available at the Gate 1 access point. Visitors wishing to use the day permits as an access option may enter at Gate 1 only.
Tokai
The Tokai Picnic site is open 365 days a year and visitors are permitted to braai year round.
No alcohol, music or gazebos allowed in the picnic site.
No entry permitted after 16:00 and no pass-outs allowed.
Baboons do enter the picnic site on occasion. Please do not feed the baboons and make sure that all food is packed away if baboons are present.
Note there is an additional charge per vehicle entering the picnic site over and above the per adult or child entry fee.

Oudekraal
The Oudekraal Picnic site is open daily this season and operates on a first come first serve basis.
No alcohol is allowed in the picnic site.
Operating Hours 08h00 to 18h00
A small shop will operate at Oudekraal Picnic site this season for the duration of the season.
Newlands
This Picnic site is open daily from 08h00 to 18h00
Note there is an additional charge per vehicle entering the picnic site over and above the per adult or child entry fee.
No alcohol allowed.
Signal Hill
This site is prone to receiving vast volumes of traffic. We suggest you plan your visit for early in the morning when viewing is easier and parking is available.
Wild Cards and Green Cards
Wild card and My green card holders are reminded they need to produce proof of identification upon entering on either of these cards and every adult entering with a my Green card holder also had to produce a valid form of SA ID
Visitor Safety
The Park recommends that you never carry out your activity alone and strongly recommends you always have two or three buddies with you when out hiking, trail running. cycling or horse riding. Visitors should always ensure they know their route and have let someone know where they are going before they depart., They must have with them adequate water, food, protection from sun and cold.
