Resources Deployed to a Wildfire in Deer Park

SANParks – Table Mountain National Park (TMNP) has deployed ground crews and aerial support in response to a wildfire that broke out in the Deer Park area earlier this afternoon.

The fire is currently moving in the direction of Devil’s Peak. Following a weather advisory issued for the Western Cape today, the fire is spreading rapidly due to extreme heat, low humidity, and spotting conditions.

Access to the Table Mountain Aerial Cableway (TMACC) via Tafelberg Road remains open at this stage, except for the section of the road beyond the ablution facilities.

The following trails are currently closed for public safety:

  • All trails within Deer Park and above Tafelberg Road.
  • Footpaths and jeep tracks leading to Camps Bay.
  • Pipe Track.
  • All footpaths accessing Camps Bay from Back Table and Apostle Battery.
  • Trails above the Twelve Apostles.

We urge all visitors and hikers to avoid the affected areas and follow instructions from emergency personnel.

Public safety remains our top priority, and we thank the public for their cooperation and understanding during this time.
