SANParks – Table Mountain National Park (TMNP) has deployed ground crews and aerial support in response to a wildfire that broke out in the Deer Park area earlier this afternoon.
The fire is currently moving in the direction of Devil’s Peak. Following a weather advisory issued for the Western Cape today, the fire is spreading rapidly due to extreme heat, low humidity, and spotting conditions.
Access to the Table Mountain Aerial Cableway (TMACC) via Tafelberg Road remains open at this stage, except for the section of the road beyond the ablution facilities.
