High traffic volumes are expected on the N4 (Pretoria to Mozambique) during the forthcoming weekend, although it is not expected to peak at the same levels as during the Easter period or school holidays.
Trans African Concessions (TRAC) has also been informed of a large religious gathering which will take place in KwaMahlanga/Ekandustria (Bronkhorstspruit region) on Sunday, 12 August. According to reports, thousands of people are expected to attend this gathering.
An increase in traffic from an easterly and westerly direction towards Bronkhorstspruit/KwaMahlanga is expected over the weekend.
Belfast to Wonderfontein
The widening of the N4 between Belfast and Wonderfontein is progressing well. However, heavy traffic flow will cause delays in this area. Clear road signs indicate where construction work is taking place. Motorists are cautioned to drive carefully and at the correct speed limit.
Middelburg-Witbank
Road users on the N4 are urged to take care when driving on the concrete section of the freeway between Middelburg and Witbank. Work has commenced to remove and replace the failed concrete sections of the road.
A short section of this stretch of road currently only allows for single lane traffic and it is expected to cause some discomfort to motorists. The working area is demarcated and sign posted.
Dense fog
Certain areas of the N4 are prone to dense fog, especially at this time of year. Motorists are reminded to remain alert in these difficult driving conditions and to switch on their head lights.
