Prescribed Ecological Burn In Tsitsikamma Section Progressing Safely And On Track
The operation of a prescribed ecological burn in the Tsitsikamma Section of the Garden Route National Park is progressing according to plan following ...
The change emanates from complaints from guests and a survey was conducted. The majority showed preference for the allocation system in use in many other national parks, namely to choose sites upon arrival on a “first come first served” basis.
The “first-come, first-served” system, also known as first-in, first-served and first-come, first choice, is a service policy whereby the requests of customers or clients are attended to in the order that they arrived, without other biases or preferences.” This was therefore deemed to be the most reasonable and fair system.
The management of the GRNP has endorsed this move as not only applying systems that work well in other National Parks but also a great way to manage the administration of camping products in the Park. The Wilderness section of the GRNP is 10 minutes away from the town of George and is easily accessible from the N2. The Park”s range of products include accommodation such as chalets, cabins and family cottages, as well as camping and caravan camping. It is a haven for avid birders because of the various rivers and lakes in the area, including a Ramsar site nearby. Part of the Touw river runs through the Park and is used for canoeing. Wilderness section further is in close proximity (can be walked) to the renowned Wilderness beach (Blue Flag).
