The Kruger National Park (KNP) will temporarily close the Letaba Elephant Hall at Letaba Camp in the north of the park from 12 January – 20 March 2017. The temporary closure is due to the installation of new information panels and maintenance upgrade.
The information panels are sponsored by the University of the Sunshine Coast, Australia and the maintenance upgrade of the hall is a combined effort between SANParks and the Honorary Rangers.
The Elephant Hall will be opened to tourists on 21 March 2017.
Kruger National Park Management apologises to all our tourists for the inconvenience caused due to the closure however tourists should look forward to visiting our new face lifted hall.

The Letaba Gold Fields Environmental Education Centre, established in 1993 is an Environmental Education Centre in the Letaba Rest Camp of the Kruger National Park.
Commonly known as the Letaba Elephant Hall this facility boast an impressive information display on Elephants and holds the ivory of the most famed Magnificent 7 and several other large tuskers roamed the Kruger National Park.
Also part of this display is a full skeleton of an African Elephant as well as other unique tusk and skeleton displays.
The Letaba Elephant Hall caters to in the region of 80 000 visitors to the facility many of whom are repeat guests and 13 000 learners throughout the educational programmes per annum.
A basic upgrade in 2006 saw the extention of the display through the introduction of Mandleve's ivory which holds the record for the heaviest ivory recorded in the KNP, as well as the full elephant skeleton and the age chart mural/. This upgrade did not address the information panels which will be the main focus of the upcoming upgrade.
