Media Release: Serial muggers handed 8 year prison sentence after TMNP ranger arrest

Rangers established a broad manhunt across the mountain last year September after the incident occurred on Signal Hill, resulting in the arrest of both suspects. The perpetrators were tried at the regional court, found guilty of both charges and subsequently handed an 8 year prison sentence (suspended for 2 years).

TMNP Park Manager, Paddy Gordon commended the sterling work of the rangers and the excellent working relationship that the park has with SAPS.

“Without our key partner SAPS, our efforts to curb criminal incidences will be hampered and we value the vital role they play in fighting crime especially during the arrest this morning”, he said.

We would however like to stress that personal details regarding every individual case cannot be made public without jeopardising operations and further investigations.
