This follows the restrictions placed on any form of angling in marine protected areas as set out in the Marine Living Resources Act passed in 1998. The new restrictions took effect on 1 January 2001.
Limited fishing was allowed in the park under the watchful eye of conservationists until the promulgation of this Act. The extreme depth of the water at the Tsitsikamma shore made it a sought-after angling spot for, among others, red steenbras and yellowtail.
