Media Release: Morula Kids Competition

The overwhelming response received however, prompted SANParks to reward two other schools with a 2nd & 3rd prize win. More than 750 entries were received from schools across the country, and the judges had quite a tricky task in settling on the winner. Apart from the top three prizes, five runner-ups were selected and they will receive environmental information boxes, courtesy of the Wildlife and Environmental Society of SA.

The CEO of SANParks Mr Mavuso Msimang also attended the prize giving ceremony held on Thursday and presented the proud winners with their prizes. He also renamed the project Morula Kids Competition, and congratulated all the winners for their hard work.

Panorama primary school, from Fairlands in Gauteng, won first prize for their Rhino sculpture. They will spend five days in the Kruger National Park during the Easter holidays.

2nd prize went to St Peters Primary school from Nelspruit, in Mpumalanga. They will spend three days in the Kruger.

3rd prizewinners, Moiletsoane Primary School from the North West province, won a trip to Golden Gate National Park.

This Competition was made possible by the generous support of the Ford Foundation. SANParks would like to thank them and all the judges who were involved in making this a success.

Pictures of the winners and their winning works can be downloaded from our website from Thursday, 7 March 2002.
