Media Release: Marakele National Park entrance gets a facelift

Visitors to Marakele National Park are in for a treat as they arrive in the Park as months of construction of the roads in the entrance gate have finally come to an end.

This will afford the visitors access to the park with ease and has given the buses ample parking space. Proper gate control, more parking to accommodate buses, caravans and trailers as they check into the park necessitated this new look of the park.

“In the past, especially on a busy weekend, cars would be clamped in one place with limited space to park but this has since changed” said Mphadeni Nthangeni, Park Manager Marakele National Park.

The construction of the 110 metres of road has created a welcoming ambiance to the visitors of Marakele and has added to the development of the park. This is the first of many projects that are yet to come to the Park, and we believe we are on the right track to continuously add to visitors” experience when they visit Marakele.” added Nthangeni.

The access road is part of the road rehabilitation in the Park and is also linked to the Entrance Gate Tourism Hub which include new office blocks. A tourism Hub which includes a lodge is planned for this park in the next five years and will increase more beds in the Park.
