Although the drought has not come into full swing in the Park and the surrounding areas, the 60mm of rain recorded over the weekend has brought much needed relief to the water sources in the area, Limpopo River being the biggest.
According to SANParks the drought is welcome as it is good for the ecosystem “but we also know that a pro-longed drought season can lead to many adverse situations in our parks, so we truly welcome the rain and it is exciting to see the river in this state” said Divhani Maremba, Northern Region Communications Manager.
More rain is still expected in the area over the next two days.
