Ms Samkelisiwe Lubanga from DAFF spoke about the purpose of the day “to give back to society” whislt Ms Sarah Letsoalo from DENC introduced the array of guests.
The socio-economic impact that the BSP EPW Programme at Mokala National Park has on the surrounding communities was discussed by the Project Manager, Mr. Spencely Motloung. He explained that apart from the projects providing work for over 77 participants and 6 Small to Medium Micro Enterprises it also has a core mandate for skills development and training something Mr Mandela cherished and strongly encouraged. He reiterated Mr Mandela”s words “Without education, your children can never really meet the challenges they will face. So it”s very important to give children education and explain that they should play a role for their country”.
The BSP EPWP workers repainted the “jungle gyms” in various rainbow colours which was befitting the symbolism of Mr Mandela realized dream of a rainbow nation and the ECD Centre and its surrounding areas were cleaned and litter picked up.
The joyous day was closed off by planting trees donated by Galeshewe Nursery in and around the ECD Centre as part of the action of “giving back to society”.
