Kruger National Park’s Stevenson-Hamilton Knowledge Resource Centre Reopens

The Stevenson-Hamilton Memorial Library in Skukuza Rest Camp, Kruger National Park, is a notable historical and cultural attraction.

This library, which doubles as a museum, celebrates James Stevenson-Hamilton, the park’s first warden, and showcases his contributions to Kruger’s early conservation efforts.

The library houses extensive resources on African wildlife, conservation, and the park’s history, including Stevenson-Hamilton’s diaries, historical documents, and rare photographs.

Visitors can explore artifacts that bring Kruger’s history to life, including items from early park rangers, memorabilia, and displays on prominent figures like ranger Harry Wolhuter, known for surviving a lion attack.

Located within Skukuza, the park’s largest rest camp, this library is an essential stop for anyone interested in the legacy and evolution of Kruger National Park.

Opening Times:

  • Monday – Friday: 08:00 to 16:00
  • Saturday, Sunday, and Public Holidays (including Christmas Day): 08:00 to 13:00

Holiday Notice:
The museum will be closed on 30 and 31 December 2024 and 1 and 2 January 2025. Outside of these dates, the library will remain open 7 days a week throughout the holiday season.
