KNP Emergency Call Centre

Situated in the KNP Protection Services building in Skukuza, the Emergency Call Centre, which opened in December 2004, is manned every day throughout the year and will be able to help guests and KNP staff with any emergency they might face.

By dialling the Emergency Call Centre telephone number (013 735 4325), people will have access to any assistance they might need, whether it is to report that they have a flat tyre and need assistance to change it or whether they are simply lost in a camp, the official on duty will be able to help them.

“Like most Call Centres, the key to its effectiveness is the training of the person manning it and we will carefully select highly trained people, to man this Centre,” said Mr Prego Reddy of KNP Protection Services.

The operator on duty will capture all the relevant data, assess the situation and direct the nearest and most appropriate support – whether this is medical or mechanical or of a law enforcement nature – to the person in need, no matter where that person is in the KNP.

Another service that the Emergency Call Centre will be able to deal with is when a visitor sees people disobeying the KNP’s rules and regulations, they can contact the Centre and report it, resulting in law enforcement officers responding to the complaint speedily. The Centre is also a proactive crime-fighting tool and, if a member of the public observes a suspicious vehicle, injured animals etc the Centre can also be contacted.

The KNP is there for everyone and, as such, asked for all visitors to co-operate with regard to game spotting etiquette, gate times, speed limits, not getting out of vehicles and other KNP rules and regulations.

The KNP Emergency Call Centre can be contacted on 013 735 4325.
