A joint law enforcement operation undertaken by Kruger National Park Nxanatseni North Rangers, SANParks Air Services and Greater Kruger Environment Protection Fund (GKEPF), has led to the successful arrests of two suspected poachers. The suspects were found to be in possession of snares and poison.
No carcass was discovered in the vicinity, and it is suspected that the suspects were caught before any wildlife was killed. Poison is often used to lace carcasses and target predator species.
