Introducing children to our game parks

South Africa”s vast network of protected areas representing the country`s rich indigenous fauna, fIora, landscapes and associated cultural heritage are found in over 19 game reserves. Sadly, the vast majority of children who live in and around the parks had never previously had a chance to visit these wild areas. The Kids in Parks Programme is changing that. Established in 2005, Kids in Parks is a partnership between the Department of Environmental Affairs, South African National Parks (SAN Parks), the Department of Basic Education and retailer Pick n Pay. The aim is simple: to expose as many children as possible to South Africa`s diverse natural and cultural heritage in order to foster a lifelong passion for conservation and a sense of pride of South Africa”s biodiversity.
