Cape Town, SANParks – The Fire Management team at Table Mountain National Park has contained a fire that affected Redhill in the Southern Section of the Park.
The fire was first reported at 3:00 PM in the Redhill informal settlement and spread rapidly due to strong southeasterly winds.
Redhill Road has been closed to the public to allow emergency services to pass. Residents were advised to evacuate the area to safer locations.

Approximately 116 hectares of land were burnt before containment. The fire crew will remain on scene throughout the night for mop-up operations and monitor any flare-ups.
Hiking trails will remain closed on Monday as a precaution during mopping-up operations. SANParks would like to thank the incredible firefighters, aerial resources, rangers, and the communications team at the dispatch center for their outstanding efforts and hard work during this operation.
