Dr David Mabunda’s visit to Washington D.C.

Director Mabunda, formerly park manager (superintendent) of Kruger National Park, South Africa’s oldest and flagship national park, is in charge of 20 national parks encompassing over 3,500,000 hectares (approximately 8,650,000 acres).

A highlight of Mabunda’s U.S. tour was his visit to Glacier National Park and Grant-Kohr’s National Historic Site in Montana, where he met staff and observed first-hand the management of these areas. Following his visit to these parks, Mabunda traveled to Washington, DC, where he was warmly received by Director Fran Mainella.
