Since the first observations of this occurrence, immediate action was taken and a process put in place to get to the root of the problem for the mortalities of the birds.
Local veterinary services, the State Vet and the SANParks Veterinary Services was approached for assistance with the investigation into this matter. Specimens of the birds have been collected for analysis.
The ongoing removal and disposal of carcasses at the lakes is being carried out.
