Research Focus and Interest
- Understanding environmental legislation and issues related to environmental degradation in protected areas/national parks
- Implementation of Environmental Management Systems to minimise risk and mitigate any potentially negative impact on the natural environment
- Ensuring legal compliance with environmental legislation and internal SANParks policy and protocols through proactive and reactive monitoring
- Drafting of Standard Operating Procedures, Environmental Management Plans and Integrated Waste Management Plans
- Providing advisory services related to environmental management to ranger services, technical services, scientific services and tourism including site assessments
- Implementing and monitoring environmental strategies that promote sustainable development within the national park.
