Research Focus and Interest
I am a fairly new addition to SANParks, having joined the organisation in 2013. Previously, I worked for a major GIS software company but my interest has always been in applying GIS and remote sensing tools to ecological problems. These tools add great depth to our understanding of how ecological components work together over time. The added benefit is that they also seamlessly fill management and operational gaps. Everything around us has a spatial component and I am particularly interested in making people aware of the spatial components in their data and how utilizing these components can open up a whole new dimension.
