Cape Research Centre
Project Registration Process
Project proposals submitted to the Cape Research Centre for consideration are reviewed by the Scientific Services department. If approved, the project will be registered on our database. Once the project has been registered the science liaison officer (details below) will assist with logistical arrangements and data access.
Agulhas National Park
Park Entry
- There are no entry fees as this is an open access park.
- Researchers have to notify the Park Manager/Section Ranger of when they will be doing field work.
- Researchers are required to present their permit/letter of permission at the front office.
Accommodation
- There is no research accommodation in the park.
- Researchers wanting to make use of tourist accommodation must make their own arrangements through Central Reservations and are required to pay conservation fees.
- A variety of accommodation is available close to the park.

Bontebok National Park
Park Entry
- Researchers are required to notify the Park Manager of when they will be doing field work.
- A permit/letter of permission must be presented at the front office in order to gain free access to the park. (Note this is only valid for researchers listed on the permit.)

- There is no research accommodation in the park.
- Researchers wanting to make use of tourist accommodation must make their own arrangements through Central Reservations and are required to pay conservation fees.
- A variety of accommodation is available close to the park.
Game Guards
The Park will provide a ranger to accompany the researchers when necessary. Arrangements are to be made with the Park Manager.

Namaqua National Park
Park Entry
- Researchers are required to notify the Park Manager of when they will be doing field work.
- A permit/letter of permission must be presented at the front office in order to gain free access to the park. (Note: this is only valid for researchers listed on the permit.)
- There are no entry fees during the off season (November to June).
Accommodation
- Currently there is no research accommodation in the park.
- A cottage is being renovated and should be available from mid – late 2015. A 4×4 will be required to access it.
- Researchers wanting to make use of tourist accommodation must make their own arrangements through Central Reservations and are required to pay conservation fees.
- There is a variety of accommodation in Kammieskroon.

Table Mountain National Park
Park Entry
- There are four pay entry points in the park, the rest of the park is open access.
- Researchers are required to notify the relevant senior Section Ranger or Manager of when they will be doing field work.
- Researchers must present their permit/letter of permission at the pay gate in order to gain free access to the park. (Note this is only valid for researchers listed on the permit).
Accommodation
- There is no research accommodation in the park.
- Researchers wanting to make use of tourist accommodation (tented camps and cottages) must make their own arrangements through Central Reservations and are required to pay conservation fees.
- Researchers staying in Cape Point are not permitted to leave the park at night (no late gate entry/exit) and may not drive in the park at night.
- A variety of accommodation is available in Cape Town, close to Table Mountain.

- Researchers wanting to make use of tourist accommodation must make their own arrangements through Central Reservations and are required to pay conservation fees.
- There is no other accommodation available within 80km of the park.
