Addo Elephant National Park MPA
The Addo Elephant National Park Marine Protected Area (MPA) is one of three new MPAs within South African National Parks (SANParks) which were gazetted by the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE) on 23 May 2019. This declaration was the culmination of many years of work by South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI,) SANParks, Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife and the DFFE. These MPAs came into effect on 1 August 2019.

Addo Elephant National Park is committed to enforcing the regulations pertaining to this Act. Please ensure that you are aware of all the regulations pertaining to the MPAs and that you are in possession of the relevant permits should you be undertaking any activities requiring such.
Permit applications can be done at Addo’s Matyholweni Rest Camp near Colchester.
