Established in 1898 to protect the wildlife of the South African Lowveld, Kruger offers a world-class wildlife experience with unparalleled diversity. It is home to 336 tree species, 49 fish, 34 amphibians, 114 reptiles, 507 birds, and 147 mammals, and leads in environmental management techniques.

The park also preserves significant cultural treasures, such as bushman rock paintings and archaeological sites like Masorini and Thulamela, reflecting centuries of human interaction with the environment and history.

Intention to Adopt the Kruger National Park Management Plan 2018 – 2028 and the Generic Environmental Management Programme23 February 2024

This serves as notice of the intention to adopt the Kruger National Park Management Plan 2018 – 2028 and the Generic Environmental Management Programme for the Kruger National Park as Environmental Management Instruments and to exclude Identified Activities from the Requirement to obtain an Environmental Authorisation.

Guests advised to use Phabeni Gate instead of Numbi Gate10 April 2022

Please note that due to safety and security concerns, guests are advised to enter/exit the Kruger National Park via Phabeni Gate instead of Numbi Gate. Guests are also advised to make use of the R40 road instead of the R538 between White River and Hazyview.

Malaria Alert23 May 2021

Please take note that Kruger National Park falls within the malaria endemic area of South Africa. Please consult your travel doctor/general practitioner about how you can prevent malaria while visiting.

Kruger National Park encourages the public regarding Malaria preventive measures

We request visitors who contract malaria after having visited the Park to immediately report this to the doctors in Skukuza, as this can assist in recording and identifying the affected areas. There are resident medical doctors permanently based in Skukuza, Kruger National Park’s main camp, and the public can consult them for information and advice prior to their visit to the Park on +27 13 735 5638.
