Tsendze a Hit!!

Date: 2006-11-15

The very first guests to stay at Tsendze arrived on the 2 November, one day after the camp opened. In just two weeks since then, Tsendze has all the makings of a 'Kruger Classic', as the conversations taking place about this camp on the SANParks forums illustrate.

"This is my new best camp EVER!!!!", says Monkeyberry, one of our forum members who recently camped at Tsendze. "I'm sitting typing this outside my tent at Tsendze!!! There is data (gprs) coverage at this camp".

According to Monkeyberry, "Rustic" is an apt description for the camp (gprs aside), and "you cannot go wrong with any of the campsites". As with all Kruger National Park Camps, some sites with no doubt become favorites.

"It is a very quiet camp, with fantastic bird song all day", adds Monkeyberry, "with wonderful atmosphere". The bush comes alive at night, and during Monkeyberry's stay, a pride of lions made a kill just outside camp. "Wow, what an experience that was", says Monkeyberry, "we presume they brought down a buffalo because of the large herd that moved past camp at around 4pm and what a night it was, they sounded like they were 10 metres outside the fence (probably more like 200m though), snarling THE WHOLE NIGHT, we never slept a wink".

Aside from what are described as "near perfect sites", and the nocturnal antics of the lions, another highlight of the trip of the was the friendly staff, Rodgers and Elina. "Rodgers is quite a character", says Monkeyberry, "you will see when you eventually get there... man he can talk and tell stories...we even invited him for supper one night, and we sat chatting away late into the night" adds Monkeyberry.

Designed with a back-to-basics theme, Tsendze Rustic Campsite includes 34 camp sites, two ablution facilities and two camp kitchens. The facility is conveniently located seven kilometres south of Mopani Rest Camp and about 20 kilometres north of the Giriyondo/Makhadzi turn off on the H1-6 main road between Letaba and Mopani rest camps.

Monkeyberry's final comment on the camp site "P.S: I'm back at Tsendze in two weeks time, i loved it that much!"
