Mafourteen Walling
These terraced walls were constructed or built by illegal immigrants from neighbouring Mozambique “Mafourteen” who were caught passing through the Kruger National Park to look for jobs. Those who were caught traversing through Kruger National Parks were forced to build the Punda Maria stone wall terraces. The Africans were freed after fourteen days constructing these terraces to buy their freedom. The construction of these terraces was committed to promote sustainable land management practices. Such structures testify to the methods and practices used by Africans from Mozambique from prehistory to organize their living and working space by optimizing local natural and human resources.
