Media Release: Enter the "My Addo" photographic competition
30 August 2010
Those with a flair for photography and a passion for nature stand a chance of winning prizes worth thousands of rands by capturing the essence of the greater Addo Park.
Weekend Post and Katz Camera World, together with the Honorary Rangers Addo Region, will be giving away more than R30 000 in prizes in the “My Addo Photographic Competition” to raise awareness about the bio- diversity within the Addo Elephant National Park.
All photographers need to do – whether you’re an old hand at photography or just taking pictures as a hobby – is to snap away and capture nature in the greater Addo Park.
“My Addo Photograph Competition” is all about nature. This means that the subject of the photographs must be in their natural state and very little manipulation is permitted. The competition offers a much broader scope for photography as the only restriction in subject matter is that it is about or in Addo.
There are three categories, including one for serious photographers using SLR cameras, an open category for those with point-and- shoot cameras and a student category.
The first, second and third place winners of each category will receive Katz vouchers ranging from R10 000 to R1 000. One lucky entrant will also win a luxury weekend away at the Kuzuko Lodge in a lucky draw.
The judges criteria for the competition includes the impact of the photo and correct use of photographic techniques. The entry fee is R40 and includes an A4 print by Katz. Proceeds will be donated to Addo Honorary Rangers Conservation Projects. Entries are unlimited so you can enter as many photographs you want.
The closing date for entries is Saturday, October 31 at 12pm.
