Richtersveld under new management

There is  a new face that will be greeting you the next time you visit the |Ai-|Ais/Richtersveld Transfrontier Park. In December 2015 a new manager took over the driver seat from Nick de Goede after the latter was transferred to Camdeboo National Park in the Graaff-Reinett area.

Wayne Bolton who plans to cycle 6,000 kilometers to 19 National Parks around the country began his expedition on the 28th November 2015. His expedition "One land, love it" has promised to strengthen ranger corps efforts against the plight of rhino poaching. So says Bolton "we will contribute much needed anti-poaching equipment to the men and women on the ground - rangers who risk their lives to protect our wildlife".

Dedication and hard work were honoured in Camdeboo National Park recently with the awarding of long service awards to a number of staff members:  Gert Visagie (25 years), Kotie Kane (30 years), Gcobani Blouw (5 years), Zola Magxa (20 years) and Booi Smith (5 years).   Park Manager, Nic De Goede, handed the certificates over to his staff members and congratulated and thanked them for their continued dedication to conservation and tourism.

Media Release: Gale Force South Easterly Fanning across Table Mountain National Park

12 January 2016 - The weekend saw the ignition of several vegetation fires across sections of Table Mountain National Park. Fires at Devils Peak and Signal Hill were largely contained but because of gale force south easterly winds these areas continue to be monitored. The biggest concern however is a fire that started on Sunday near the Red Hill informal settlement which was contained on the same day but flared up once again in the early hours of Monday morning.  This fire is now covering an expanse from Red Hill to Ocean View via Scarborough and Misty Cliffs.

09 January 2016 - The Department of Environmental Affairs (DEA) can confirm that the DEA, South African National Parks (SANParks) and the Tsitsikamma Angling Forum (representatives of the Tsitsikamma fishing community) have reached a settlement agreement with the Friends of the Tsitsikamma Association, to stop the pilot recreational angling project in the Tsitsikamma Marine Protected Area (MPA).

Kruger National Park Management would like to inform the public about the new rules and conditions which have been put in place for the use of swimming pools inside the Park as from the 17th of December 2015.
