Thanks for the pictures Scouter. I agree with Wanderw that your LIT is the 13th Bore Hole cub.

Unread post by Touareg »

Four days later we bumped into this young lady at the 14th Borehole. I understand her name is Miera.

OK.......between 13th and 14th Boreholes on 22 Dec 2011 at 10am we came across who we think is Miera, relaxing under a tree.....

Image

She lay there for a bit then tried to catch one of the small birds in the grass....unsuccessfully.....and then walked south down the river bed.....

Image

and climbed a tree on the far side....

Hi, we just returned from the park and had a lot of leopard sightings, captured in photo and video.
I will post photos, once i get my shots sorted, probably at the end of this week.

For now i can only provide photos of two female leopards next to the intersection with the lower dune road on the Auob side.

Picture doesn't show anymore.

Miera and another leopard? :hmz: This leopard could be a new leopard. Do you perhaps have another pic of this leopard?
Hopefully AstroMatt will comment soon. Looking forward to seeing the rest of your pix when you get your pix sorted. Thanx again Afkpuz! :D

@Afkpuz - Many thanks for this very interesting video. :hmz: Miera and the new leopard seem very relaxed at this sighting!

The forumite who first posts the leopard is asked for input re the name. AstroMatt will send you a pm/e-mail with suggestions, or you can suggest a name( but not your own name, and the name should have something to do with the Kalahari/Africa).

Hi AstroMatt and everybody,

Could somebody help me for identification, please?

@anne catherine - Thanx for posting! What a beautiful sighting of Miera. When you saw her she was approximately 22months old. Can I ask, what was she doing and how long did this sighting last?

Thanks very much Wanderw, so It's Miera..

First i saw her on the road, coming back from Gemsbokplein,no more than one kilometer north perharps.
There were two BBJ on the Auob side .
First,i thank she was going to chase them, one of the BBJ went quickly behind a shrub but the other was not too much afraid. At the end the two BBJ were calling and flouting Miera.Where they just playing ?

Looking at my two camera ,seems the were not exactly at the same hour,i would say i saw her no more than four or five minutes .She did'nt chased them at all, crossed again the road to go back in the rocks.
Here some pictures, sorry the first one was took very quickly through the front window of the car.

What a lovely sighting of Miera you had Anne  . If you want to find out more about the leopards in the park then you can download my guide (link at the bottom of the post).

Lion Queen....you also saw Miera. She really is becoming a star in the park and is being seen all over the Aoub river. As i said great to see her playing amongst the flowers
