Warm welcome to the forum Alex!
You can certainly buy your wild card on line and all you do is print a copy of the receipt and confirmation of purchase and bring that with you.
That will be fine for entering any of the SANParks.
You actual card will only arrive some time later.
You can also buy it at the entrance gates to parks as well as the reservation offices in CT.

But not at entrance to Cape of Good Hope (Cape Point) national park, unless things have changed this year!
Nor at the Cable car for Table Mountain.
Not sure if available at Boulders beach(penguin viewing) but I don't think so.
For Cape Town, best to buy online and print out receipt. That acts as entrance and proof of wild card. It may reach you by post some time later.

Wildcard in Capetown ?

Unread post by Marabruins »

Next friday we come to Capetown. We arrive by KLM at 10. in the evening. We will sleep in the Acorn House and next day we will visit COGH.
Can we buy a wildcard in Capetown somewhere ?
Buying online is not a success. What is your advice ?

Hi Mara!

We visited Cape Town etc from the Netherlands in 2016. :D
We bought our Wild Card at the tourism office of Cape of Good Hope. It will mean you will have to pay the entrance fee at the gate once though. But the office is very quiet so very quick and efficient.

There are other options but we were staying in Simonstown and didn't want to drive all the way to Cape Town and arrive at COGH with the tourist buses. Where you will be at Acorn House, you will be very close to the SANParks offices at the bottom of Table Mountain! You can do it from there.

I have asked for advice on this one, as there seems to be some confusion. :hmz:

It used to be the case that one battled to find somewhere in Cape Town to buy a Wild Card, then things improved somewhat, but I am told that certain facilities are again now no longer available.

As soon as I have some definite news I will post here.

By the way Marabruins, what was the problem with your online purchase, is it something that we can help you with? :hmz:

Hi GP
Apparently for the moment, they have stopped this, but may restart again with better plans in place.
