Private Message Dispatching from Outbox

Unread post by Elephantears »

How long does it take a private message to leave one's outbox? The reason I am asking is that every time I send a private message, not that often, to a forum member I have noticed it sits in the outbox for ages.
Am I right assuming these are vetted by mods prior to dispatching and if so how long does it take to check and deliver?
Thank you very much.

Your message stays in the outbox until the recipient picks it up.
No the Mods don't vet our PMs.

Thank you very much Crested Val

That is quite correct.

I have one that has been sitting in my outbox for 6 months!!!

Once the recipient does pick it up, it will show in "sent".

Hope your recipients answer you soon!!!

Help please PM stuck in Outbox

Unread post by Helol »

Hello all

I drafted a PM a week or two ago, and wondered why I hadn't received a reply. I have just checked my PM's, and the one I wrote is stuck in the "Outbox'. I checked the 'Sent' box and it is't there, so it doesn't seem as though it was sent.... :?

Hi Helol - the PM will remain in your Outbox until the person you sent it to opens it and reads it. So it has been 'sent' but the other person has not read it yet.

ah, ok. Thanks Dalene.

Another quick question: I had in my notifications that there was a new post on the thread called 'What's the weather like...". But when I click on the notification msge to go to the thread, it tells me I don't have the permissions, and that "You are not authorised to read this forum.' :(

That is probably because the post that was linked to in your notification was cleaned off the forums - that topic is cleaned regularly as the weather becomes outdated.

The topic is still there - see here

:gflower: Oh shame - not at all. As Val says, please just ask ... and please also PM any of the mod team with any issues.
