Which is your favourite antilope?
Favorite antelope
I voted Roan,
Since childhood they have always been the "holy grail" antelope in Kruger for me.
Their history in the Park is fascinating - being innoculated by air against anthrax, their numbers being augmented from Malawi, always fighting to survive at the limit of their distribution!
And those ears!

This is my first time in the forums.
Though I live in London I visit KNP every year for a week in May or August - last year I managed both.
I voted Sable though I have only managed to see them on my first visit six years ago. A beautiful bull cantered across the H1-1 as we travelled eastbound, just before the turn off to Transport Dam. He was in the company of zebras.
We also saw two on the same visit, well concealed in the bush on the Voortrekker Road 10k from Pretoriuskop.
This year, as well as Kruger in May, we are going to Zambia in August so I hope to increase my sable sightings!

This was a tough one.
I cannot vote for roan - never seen one.
Oryx - lovely, but no - seen a lot
Nyala - secretive, but no - seen quite a few
Kudu - very tasty - PB puts up a great argument, but no
Red Hartebeest - saw one being born, but no - they have no charisma
Sable - YES! Saw a herd of 10 at Rooibosrand dam in 2005, with young ones. The excitement was almost as much as for a serval, leopard or cheetah! At 20 to one zeedoc, you can have 200 lions.

Waterbuck - yep I know fairly common - but they make a beautiful picture and that ring on their bums is a bit cheeky if you ask me.
Be the change you want to see in the world- Gandhi
