Insecure SSL notice

Unread post by DinkyBird »

Dear All,

Please note that SANParks have installed new Secure Socket Layer (SSL) security on our website, if you get an please ensure that you browse SANParks.org and the SSL certificate will be correct.

That means IF you used http://www.sanparks.co.za to access the website
(and those of us who did so decades ago might still do so)
then please change your bookmark(s) to use .org rather than .co.za suffix.

The tech team have actually changed the site so that if you go straight into the old home page at http://www.sanparks.co.za
then you will be transparently sent to the secure https://www.sanparks.org website correctly.

However:

Bookmarks directly to the .co.za website cannot be redirected so you may get a message saying there's a 'certificate issue'.

Like say the forums
https://www.sanparks.co.za/forums/
may produce a warning message like
"The owner of https://www.sanparks.co.za has configured their website improperly. To protect your information from being stolen, Firefox has not connected to this website."

That's because sanparks.co.za is a 'deprecated' site - or in non technical terms is one that's not the best one to use.

So
If you get this message just edit the .co.za > .org in the address field and all will be well. You can then bookmark the latest site.

Apologies to the mods for this intervention..

tech-team
maybe use apache mod rewrite .co.za > .org
