Talamati and Skukuza staff go out of their way
We've just returned from SA (KNP and Marakele) and I wish to express my heartfelt gratitude to KNP staff over a little 'episode'
I left my kindle in the 'slot'under the bedside table and neither of us spotted it on our double double checking of an empty chalet when we left Talamati
So off the tribe (9) went down to Pretoriaskop and that evening we discovered the loss. Not enough time to go back to get them as we leave the park in three days.
A quick call to Talamati reception the following morning confirmed the staff had found the kindle, but they had no one going to Skukuza that week So i asked for someone who had a smartphone there so i could talk them through resetting it and agreed to call back when she got in for her shift.
I called back and she said she had already put in an enevelope and given to a driver of one of the delivery vehicles to leave for me at Skukuza reception.
Unfortunately the vehcle didn't get down to Skukuza in time for us to collect it that day and get back to Pretoriaskop but we were reunited with it the following day.
Thanks to Talamati staff, the driver and Skukuza reception for their beyond the call of duty efforts :-)

Yes, indeed They went out of their way to return the kindle to its rightful owner .
There's a silver lining to every cloud........I would not have seen the leopard in a tree with a kill just outside Skukuza had we not had to collect the device the next day :One very happy 'mite

Re: Talamati and Skukuza staff go out of their way
Gives a nice warm feeling to hear that story. Thanks so much for sharing:clap:
I have a similar one concerning sightings.
SIL left his iPad on our last night in Skukuza in 2012, and we did not discover till we arrive in Sabie Town that night.
Long story short is that they had kept it safe for him to collect the following day, and though it rather mucked up our plans for the Blyde River Canyon, we returned to pick it up and saw Leopard and ***, which were missing from their list of sightings on that trip until then.

Re: Kudos to Shingwedzi!
The kudos to Shingwedzi is still well deserved. During our recent visit, we were all impressed with the friendly and efficient service. The shop was well stocked. The restaurant too was as good as ever. The grandees enjoyed the swimming pool also.
Before leaving I spoke to the manager telling him what an excellent camp he runs. I also promised him that I would mention such excellence on the forum.
Thank you Shingwedzi staff

Re: Impressed with Online Booking
I wish I could say the same. Have made an itinerary for next March and entered all the camps we want to stay at overnight, number of nights, indeed this all goes very smoothly very quickly, but the check-out and payment never worked - tried at least 5 times, so we will call reservations and try to sort this out with them
don't know where it went wrong, cause as you say, the site is impressive. We have booked on line in 2012, had no problems at all, but the site was not at all this elaborate.
Lets' hope all gets sorted and we will be able to enjoy another fantastic stay in Kruger Park.

Re: Impressed with Online Booking
We have always booked on-line because it costs nothing and have been very pleased with the system .
You also have the chance to amend your booking at your leisure. I think there was an issue once with payment but that was resolved.
Long may it continue

Compliments to Letaba Camp Management
Will be Letaba in a few days and received this mail from camp management. My compliments:
We look forward to welcoming you to Letaba Rest Camp and we are honoured that you wish to share your holiday with us. Should you have any problems before or on arrival, please do not hesitate to call us.
In order to make your stay a pleasant and memorable one, we would like to inform you that communal kitchen next to the Letaba Rest Camp huts (EA3U) is closed. The communal kitchen facility is being used a temporary Tindlovu Boskombuis kitchen until further notice. Note that the nearest communal kitchen is located at the B or F circle. As the EA3U huts are self-catering - no utensils, we have currently placed an electric kettle for your use.
