Thanks. December is our favorite time in the KNP.
Plants green and flowering.
Plenty of fawns and other young.
Insects flying and displaying their colours.
The birds are happy and so are we.
This all what life is about.
I participate because I care - CUSTOS NATURAE
No to Hotels in and commercialization of our National Parks.
No to Legalized *** and Lion trade.
Done 159 visits to National Parks.
What a wonderful privilege.

When we checked into Satara 2 weeks ago, the lady at reception gave me about a 10 minute talk.
A full synopsis of how the camp time table. Gate opening and closing times, shop opening and closing times, restaurant opening and closing times. Petrol station hours etc.
Info on SANP game drives, and so on.

That is good, but how much time would be saved if they did what Letaba does and put it all in a letter, especially if they also related current conditions and made one feel welcome at the same time! It must be very boring to verbally repeat the same information to every single person who books in.

I didn't mind, she said it with a smile.
Could see she was making an effort.

Pity I didn't take down her name, could have mentioned to SANP for some positive feedback.

Really is fantastic to hear that some of the Sanparks staff at the Camps are really going the extra mile to keep visitors informed and to make them feel so welcome.Well done and keep up the good work!

Think it is a great idea to note down that staff member/s name...in this way they can then be acknowledged here in writing on the Forum. Rose and the other Mods and FAC's are always so willing to ensure that the acknowledgement is received. :gflower:

Dinner at Cattle Baron in Skukuza March 5, 2017

Unread post by Porridge »

Jax and I have spent the last 6 months planning and fantasising about our date night at the Cattle Baron after Cricket@Skukuza 2017.

We have just returned to our camp site after possibly the most astonishingly fantastic dining experience of our lives!! We started with fried camembert with melba toast and sweet chilli sauce and while Jax mentioned that it could be hotter, it was very tasty.

For main course, Jax ordered the steak and prawn combo medium rare and I ordered the rare chateaubrIand. What followed was true bliss. The food was perfect, the meat perfectly cooked to order and oh so tender and the flavours of the sauces complimenting the meal brilliantly.

Our waitron, Alice, was attentive and such a pleasure and I'd like to thank her and Cattle Baron in Skukuza for a truly brilliant evening.

PS if you haven't tasted their chateaubrIand yet, make a plan. It's a culinary miracle!!

Wonderful feedback, and I am glad you had a wonderful evening.
I can concur on the quality of the food and the great service - a meal at the cattle baron is one of my highlights of any visit to Skukuza

I am so glad to hear that you had such a super experience. :D

My daughter and I also had a couple of light meals at the Cattle Baron and we were most impressed with both the food and the service. May they go from strength to strength.
