Thank you Sanparks, for caring.

Just back from Kruger Park, and once again spent 2 lovely weeks in this park that gets so much flak on this forum.

Yes, we do say a lot about speeding offical vehicles, "careless" officials that chase elephant off road... and I even had my doubts when I saw an approaching vehicle's lights about 5 km south of Bangu at 6:30 am... where did it come from and where was it going? It disappeared down a no entry road to the Lebombo mountains and I just saw the dust hanging in the air...

BUT

I need to say Thank You Sanparks, for caring:

1. Roads in spotless condition, and I travelled more than 1000 km in 2 weeks.
2. Camps in spotless condition (exception camping kitchen lack of functioning stove plates/hot water urns in Pretoriuskop), with new bathroom tiles etc.
3.Thousands of demanding tourists every day, wanting their way. Mostly smiling, friendly Sanparks officials. Only officials at Afsaal picnic sight need some :D lessons.
4. Dedication of staff to anti-rhino poaching. On a number of occasions armed rangers with dogs on open vehicles in remote parts of park. Saw them hours later still patrolling in the bush. Risking their lives for animals that we want to see.

Thank you Sanparks, for caring!

God bless,

Friedrich von Hörsten

Very refreshing to read this Friedrich. We've gotto be happy sometimes. What you said now did that for me. For the most part I have the same feeling about my last trip to KNP.

How refreshing to read some positive feedback.

SANParks never professes to be perfect, but so often we only get the negatives from visitors. :slap:

That doesn't mean to say that we shouldn't report things that are below standard, but conversely, it is always good to hear when people have received good service.

How nice that Friedrich took the time, to share with us............thanks!!!

So true Friedrich.

I guess we sometimes forget what a big task it is to manage our parks, especially Kruger with so many visitors.

God bless.

I have never had a problem with the park staff. Their professionalism and customer service is on par with any national park that I have visited in United States. Yes isolated incidents to get blown out of proportion but on all fronts SANParks strives to put forth a quality product. Are they perfect, with perfect leadership and strategy? No. But they do care. It's why I'm active here and elsewhere, advocate for others to visit, and why SA is always in the discussion we plan vacations.

Stark, you made this point once before, and I have been meaning to tell you that we added it to our message of support to SANParks given at the dinner at this year's cricket in Skukuza :D

Friedrich, your message of a while back too - the one about the lack of potholes in Kruger. It went down very well at the dinner. For Saffies know, potholes is a national ... put your own word in there

On our way from Ballito to Phalaborwa, we had an overnight stop at a large non SANParks park. The potholes were unbelievably bad............some areas of some roads had more hole than road!!!

It was a pleasure to arrive at Croc Bridge Gate, and for the next 6 months we drove along many of Kruger's tar roads, seeing almost no potholes at all.

Well done SANParks!!
