I love those rock figs and they are everywhere. What hardy trees. Nice :cam: s.

We had a good look at the dolerite wall on our hill tour. Another fascinating piece of history. Sadly, I don't seem to have any descent pictures.

Mapungubwe seems to be a botanists dream. It has such diverse and different eco systems in such a small space.

Here is another tree that fascinated me.

 so typical Mapungubwe.

Melda, I love your little bushbuck. They are sooo beautiful.

I was quite surprised at how many warthogs we saw.

Maybe because of fewer predators than at Kruger.

The Mapungubwe tour is a must for anyone who has a good pair of legs. Although you do not have to scale mountains, there is a bit of stair climbing. It is well worth it though.

If you do not like heights, there is always the dungeon option.

Actually, this was fascinating, as it gave a sense of the excavations taking place. It certainly took us back into the history of the earth.

Notice we are wearing very warm clothing. It must have been the coldest few days of the year. Some, poor unsuspecting folk came dressed for summer and really had an unpleasant time in the open vehicle.   Always take a jacket on an open vehicle.

A random selection from June 2018

1) Sign at Treetop walk - we saw a young leopard only 100 metres way to the East
2) Limpopo Forest Tented Camp - well the roof is canvas!
3) Scene near Mapungubwe archaeological site (can only see if on the trip to the site)
4) Sunset, Leokwe camp
5) Leokwe - Dawn panorama
6) Maloutswa hide dawn (near Limpopo Forest Tented Camp)
7) Eco trail
8 ) Panorama from number 10, Leokwe camp
9) Braai view, number 10 Leokwe
10) 3-4 km from the main entrance towards Leokwe - Panorama
11) Mapungubwe Interpretation Centre
12) view from the unigned walk, back of Mapungubwe Interpretation Centre Hill

I had separated my pics into scenery and animal pics - and these from the scenery section - that is why these seem a bit devoid of game!
