Heritage Files 9: Maloti-Drakensberg Park WHS

The Sethlabathebe National Park in Lesotho has now been included in what was previously known at the uKhahlamba Drakensberg Park World Heritage Site. Hence the new name: Maloti Drakensberg Park World Heritage Site! The larger area, including Golden Gate NP forms part of the Maloti Drakensberg Trans Frontier Conservation Area. Lots of work lay ahead in assisting Lesotho to manage the cultural and biodiversity resources in SNP, but so far I have found the Lesotho delegates to be friendly and pleasant to work with. SNP is a great place to visit (although it takes me 7 hours from Pietermaritzburg to get there for a meeting!). Looking forward to all the surveys and to get a good idea of the rock art diversity and fossil records from Golden Gate to SHP!
